Client: Telefónica O2 Czech Republic, a.s. Date of launch: october 2005
Aim of the project:
To launch live broadcast of TV Óčko and other TV channels on mobile phones with UMTS network in less than 3 months.
Description of the solution:
Since this was the first ever mobile streaming in the Czech republic, we had to study all the technical specifications of the so-called 3GPP stream. With regard to the short time schedule, we made a quick system analysis on our side and it's connection and communication with the video solution of Telefónica O2.
The outcome of the analysis was the design of the infrastructure: The satellite video feed is captures by the encoder, which decodes the signal and delivers it to the video server. Streaming is then transfered over the Virtual Private Network to the Telefónica O2 network.
During the development phase we ensured the delivery of the Encoders and Video servers, which had the necessary software and players already installed and we configured their mutual communication and the connection to the system of the mobile network provider.
Our work did not end with the delivery of a functional video solution. Since the sucessful launch of Mobile TV we have already launched another 8 TV stations. We also carefully control the whole solution so that all the O2 customers can enjoy their favourite programs even if they are not sitting in front of a television.
"We needed to start a couple of video services before the commercial launch of the UMTS network on Invex 2005. In the summer we have chosen the Livebox company and in we were the proud owners of a Mobile TV. I mainly value the huge flexibility and the ability to supply the required solution in very tight schedules, in our cooperation with the Livebox company."
